Take Care
Hello,
Level up Leo loves, Virgo’s gaze is upon us. She’s our ego check, bringing us back to base. Where there’s room for improvement she’s all knowing and seeing. Unafraid to call it, she tells it like it is.
You see, for Virgo it’s not enough to be creative like Leo. That doesn’t sit well.
For Virgo, to be creative is to be useful.
To complete any creation and have actual impact we need follow through and this is where Virgo picks up after Leo leaves off. Not to be difficult or unkind, or get in your way, but as a genuine act of service. The act of making things right. Virgo is precise, exacting and fine detail is her friend. But she’s your friend with benefits because she cares so much. Taking care to make your whole system feel and work better. Here to help the people. That is true service.
A Very Virgo Head Trip
We know mind-centred Mercury is a co-creator of Virgo’s consciousness. Possessing a penetrating eye and an inner sight that picks up on the most subtle perceptions. Aware before we are of errors in judgement and details gone awry. Dispensing knowledge we might not want to hear but saves us many, many times.
Virgo’s gift is to get granular, knowing that to complete the whole picture you have to start small. By being precise, discerning, analytical and practical. But for Virgo to really work well, to be fully resourced ~ and restored ~ we need to get out of our heads and get our feet wet.
We do this by flipping into Pisces and dipping into spirit.
Every astrological sign has an opposite. And each needs the other for completion. Virgo’s opposite sign is Pisces. You could say there’s really only six astrological signs. They’re just made up of polarities: Aries~Libra, Taurus~Scorpio, Gemini~Sagittarius, Cancer~Capricorn, Leo~Aquarius and Virgo~Pisces.
We are our best selves when our two halves make us whole.
Throughout the day we all flip into our opposite Sun sign. Maybe once, maybe a lot. This is how we adjust when we need balance. We take from our other half to take care of ourselves. Virgo does it by borrowing sensitivity from Pisces. Getting into watery spaces. Gazing out windows. Connecting with the divine. Lost in thought and dreamtime, Pisces opens Virgo’s mind.
Earth-based Virgo needs Pisces’ water so its well doesn’t run dry. Like clay needs water to make it pliable, Pisces is Virgo’s juice. Bringing wonder from the otherworld to loosen us up. Keeping our daily lives alive and enlivened. Out of our heads, our stuckness and rigidity, and open to receiving what else there can be. High on possibility.
In Pisces, Virgo trusts there’s a method to this madness even when there’s zero plan and the outcome is unclear.
A Woman Who Knows Herself
A woman clear in her head. Not knocked around by imperfection. Completely over overthinking. Says what she means and means what she says. Could care less about age spurts (which you have when you no longer have growth spurts). Grateful to be alive. Living by this every single day.
This is my aspirational version of Virgo.
Virgo in general gets a regular beat up. Too picky, hypercritical… And then there’s the Virgin label ~ uptight and prudish. A term needing rehabilitating in itself. As Ursula Le Guin explains in her book The Space Crone:
‘The once awesome “virgin” is now a sneer or at best a slightly dated word for a person who hasn’t copulated yet.’
Virgin or maiden, this once sacred state, as I know it is not chaste or inexperienced at all. Quite the opposite. She’s a woman unto herself who knows herself. Driven by her own urges. Aware of her preferences. Independent, self-aware and discriminating. Spirited. Spiritually in touch and in touch with her desires. Like a Virgo.
We’re not all maidens here but we can carry this updated image of Virgo through each of our womanly stages and ages. You contain your own perfect blend of Virgo. How does your Virgo show up for you?
A New Moon of Daily Dedication
Gently committing to one small act of care, every day, is the seed we can plant for our Virgo New Moon.
In true Virgo style, this act will be simple and thoughtful. Nothing complicated. A small step toward self-improvement that supports your self-awareness. An addition or an adjustment you can weave into your everyday. Holistic and wholesome. The kind of medicine Virgo loves.
We are nature. On its own, the natural world is perfect. Could we be perfect too?
We know we need to shift our critical lens. Be kinder to ourselves and more compassionate. Saturn in Pisces is sitting opposite this New Moon, right in our face, and we could so very easily feel overwhelmed. Or, we could show up for ourselves,
Saturn wants us to take ourselves seriously. Not so serious you cave under pressure but where you realise you’re worth the effort of being paid attention to, of looking after yourself and servicing yourself.
We’re only nudged so many times before our bodies tell us we need help. This is the Moon to reconnect with your responses ~ your gut response, aka your belly brain ~ by tuning in to how you feel after you walk, move, eat, go outside, stay inside, stay up late, spend time scrolling, speak with someone you love.
What feels good and what’s not right? Make a change. Something sustainable you know you can manage. Each singular something adding up and making a difference, becoming a healthy habit stack.
One thing I’ve recommitted to is writing my Morning Pages, a la Julia Cameron of The Artist’s Way. Three pages of absolutely anything at the beginning of my day. I confess, plan and think things out. Thoughts that would have spiralled and stayed with me are released, I find clarity and feel clear. It’s liberating and I stop procrastinating. (It keeps me accountable because those Morning Pages don’t forget…)
This is just one thing I’ve done and it’s made so much difference. But it’s the repetition of the ritual and daily doing that really makes this work. Not to mention, the flow-on effect when we see how a positive change can really lift our life.
What change to your daily life could hold you more supportively? In the way you think, regard yourself and look after yourself? One small, helpful act that puts your personal care at the top of your list?
Take care, very good care.
Love,
Kristin xxx
