Feel Your Depth
Hello,
We’re going all in, Scorpio style. Diving deep and plumbing our depths because going to the heart of the matter is what matters. It’s essential for living authentically and meaningfully, juicily. For a life that is whole and committed, not made up of halves.
Scorpio wants nothing less. It doubles down on the stuff we’re taught to shut down, away and out of sight. It knows the gold is there. The truth, the spark, the light that lights our way.
Where do you find yourself in over your depth? Searching for your gold, giving your all and wanting more, yearning for more? Where do you keep coming back, repeating your patterns, turning stone after stone to find what you’re looking for? This might be your Scorpio story.
Scorpio is not afraid to be determined and desire something more.
Under Your Skin
Scorpio speaks to our desires. It’s all over desire. Sexuality, connectivity, intimacy, passion. The fire that fuels us. Scorpio is a water sign but it runs so hot, like a furnace feeding on feelings.
Powerful and personal, Scorpionic desire is intentional, concentrated, focussed and determined. It wants to get under your skin, to hook you in. Its desire is to be that close with you. Our Scorpio also reveals how closely we want to connect with people we’re not in partnership with. Do you devour people and take them hostage, your Scorpion claws gripping on tightly? Or do you yearn to merge, finding yourself wanting, waiting and hoping to be taken in, equally absorbed by each other, like a lover?
‘To admit what we most yearn for is to reveal our soul.’
~ Lisa Marchiano
Wherever Scorpio lives in your chart you want the most intense engagements, interacting on the deepest level ~ with yourself, others, even your environment. You’re very intuitive here, picking up on presences and tuning in to subtleties that only you seem to sense. You’ll feel like your soul is bare because it’s where you’re most exposed and excited, finding yourself vulnerable to your needs, wants and wishes. It’s where you might be strongly guarded and protective of your motives, grateful for your Scorpion hard shell. But it’s also where you find the stuff you’re made of, your soft and steely resources that enable you to penetrate and push through whatever you have to face.
My Scorpio is up there at the top of my birth chart, straddling part way across my career and friendship zones. I will leave that for you to analyse!
Trust Me
Trust can be tricky for Scorpio. It loves with everything it’s got but its greatest fear is that everything will end. To persevere with love, to be willing to go deep in any relationship, trust is essential. Just as trusting that you’re safe with yourself is imperative when you explore the deepest, most intimate parts of you.
We bring ourselves to relationships and if we want the most honest and intimate exchanges, we have to know who we’re dealing with for our foundation to be secure.
How well do you know yourself?
We can only know what we’re willing to face. Scorpio’s ruler Pluto is the excavator of emotions. It’s the mother of intervention and will take you to your truth whether you like it or not. I told you we were going deep!
Pluto also governs our survival mechanisms. So if we fear our feelings, we’ll vigilantly try to control. We might play mind games, obsess, become jealous, subconsciously project insecurities. If we do this or are the recipient of it, it’s coming from Scorpio’s least healthy expression. And most likely originated when we were young because we didn’t feel safe or in control within our early environment. The challenge ~ when we are ready ~ is to develop an innate sense of safety within our Self instead of trying to manufacture it from others and partners.
To rely on ourselves we need to be sure of ourselves. That we’re entirely worthy of trust and treasuring, even our beautiful, broken bits. Even if a relationship is impermanent and does end.
Buried Treasure
When we fear our feelings we fear aspects of ourselves. Stuff that feels awkward that we don’t want to face. Pluto rules our shit, those shadowy bits ~ personality traits we don’t like, shoved out of sight. But how do you know those unpleasant personality traits are bad at all? You might be surprised if you take a peek. It’s not all bad. It’s actually quite good (says the woman with Pluto sitting next to her Sun:).
‘Our greatest treasure is that which is hidden deep within our subconscious.’
~ Carl Jung
There have been aspects of myself that I’ve not wanted to face. When I got into shadow work in my 40s there were some confronting revelations, hard truths I needed to acknowledge and I’m so glad I did. What I find saddest though are the special parts of me that were also stashed away and didn’t need to be. Hidden away years earlier because of negative responses I received from authority figures, or an eyeroll from someone I respected when I was young. All at times when I was completely, unselfconsciously revealing my excited and expressive Self, with zero self-awareness. There those qualities went, down into my shadow. You’ll have yours too. Valuable, meaningful qualities that deserve to be explored and integrated back within you.
When we lift up those layers we often feel freer, lighter, more open to possibility. Gaining integrity. Personal power. Agency. Access to creativity. Inner wealth and wholeness. It’s rich, our gold, the Pluto process.
‘The shadow is ninety percent pure gold.’
~ Carl Jung
What you discover inside yourself may be eye-opening. If it surprises you, trust that you’re moving, something is changing. Those tectonic plates holding you close are shifting and making space for something new.
In the deep dark we find light too. When you find yourself in watery depths look for phosphorescence, a sea of stars waiting to guide you.
A Caveat
I don’t suggest serious shadow work for young people. You’re learning about yourself and developing ego strength. Experimenting and making mistakes is an important part of your growth, so allow yourself to be part of that process. For sure, you can be aware of how people and experiences shape you, and be conscious of your ‘stuff’ when challenging stuff comes up. This will help you integrate the less comfy aspects of yourself when you attempt this work later on.
A New Moon of Authentic Understanding
On this Scorpio New Moon your wish to merge selves may be granted. Regardless of the 1st November date, your veil is always thin when the Sun and Moon conjoin.
This is why New Moons are for being intentional. With our unconscious emotions (Moon) and conscious identity (Sun) so entwined, it’s like our mind and heart are beating as one. Thoughts and feelings arrive together in resonance for a perfect, and potentially intense, union.
On a scale of one to 10, Scorpio is quite OK with a score of 11 where its emotions are involved. A psychologist’s wet dream, it’s very encouraging of self-exploration and self-enquiry, and for this New Moon especially, Mercury (our thinking function) in Scorpio gets deep respect for travelling to places we know are down there but prefer, or pretend, not to see.
How intimate are you prepared to be with yourself?
To start you might contemplate how you felt as you read this love letter. Did it have meaning for you? Did it bring up something, a memory of a valued part of yourself? Are you willing to plunge deep and see what others see, those wonderful golden pieces that deserve to be brought back to life?
Let those feelings inform your mind ~ not the other way round ~ for your healing to begin. The transformation starts with the snake shedding its skin. Take some private space for the primal to emerge. Drink your Moon medicine, understanding that like cures like, knowing there might be discomfort before the remedy kicks in.
Dance it out, shake it off. Laugh it off, letting Scorpio’s twisted, black humour release pent-up fears. Observe your dreams, noting every character you meet is a facet of yourself. Journal those dreams, looking for patterns and more clues about you.
For this New Moon your personal integration is so supported it’s kind of spooky. Trust the process. Your big reveal to yourself will happen when you are ready.
Love,
Kristin xxx
