Centre Your Authority

Hello,

I fall in love with each sign a little more as I write these love letters and I have an especially soft spot for Capricorn. It’s my rising sign, aka my Ascendant, the very first energy that rose up to meet me when I was born. Literally birthed into Capricorn’s boundaries, I was a cautious beginner, taking five laborious days to arrive in this world!

I wonder what was resisting my entry. An overly authoritarian doctor trying to control the experience? Probably. I know I was physically stuck so I wasn’t going anywhere fast. But I like to think I was fully preparing myself to land when I was ready, taking my sweet time to absorb the gravity of the experience and know myself that little bit more before I hatched into the world.

Capricorn needs to know itself very well to have the courage and confidence to go on. With an enviable Sagittarian past full of adventure and freedom, Cap has the responsibility of being a leading energy, so it has to feel extremely secure and sure to accept its role. Uncertainty is no friend of Capricorn.

If your Sun, Moon or Ascendant is in Capricorn, or Cap features strongly in your birth chart, you are deep in Capricorn school. You’re here to learn to summon your power effectively, discover the strength of your character and position yourself as the one who determines your reality. Centering your gravity on your inner authority ~ and giving on your terms. Not from a power tripping place but from a genuine desire to make real on the visions you receive and positively impact the people you’re here for.

We all have Capricorn in our birth chart and the potential to activate these qualities. We too have the ability to centre our authority, no matter who or what is rocking our boat. It might sound like a radical act but being our own internal boss is just a matter of learning and some practice.

‘Inner authority comes not from power, position, or title but from a deep, wordless knowing of who we are.’

~ Lisa Marchiano

(Re)building Integrity

Wherever Capricorn lives in your birth chart, you’ve been doing some heavy-duty transforming. From 2008 until just recently on 19 November 2024, Pluto was travelling through Capricorn. That’s 16 years of unearthing and dismantling any structures in place ~ internally and externally ~ that didn’t serve you or work for you.

If the Capricorn in you wasn’t standing on an extremely stable foundation or wasn’t secure enough to support its purpose, it very likely toppled or needed some kind of major attention or intervention.

Although you might have felt like you were being earthquaked out of any resemblance of a comfort zone, that area of your life was being recalibrated and properly realigned from the ground up. There’s no shame in rebuilding what was broken ~ your internal compass needed a firmer foundation.

Basically, if a part of your life took you away from your integrity, it wasn’t for you.

I know this sounds serious but it actually was serious. Have you ever worked for a company that had to restructure? Ugh, my career has been there. Losing control of what you know and rely on is destabilising and challenging on so many levels. Especially when you have to start again from scratch. But wherever you’ve had your personal restructure, don’t you find that you eventually came away with a renewed sense of purpose, clearer intentions and, ironically, a stronger base?

It’s from this strength that we realise we have more freedom to move. We remember who we are and what drives us. Our ultimate reason, our why. We come back to what matters.

Hopefully Capricorn’s recent rebuilding gives you the confidence to hold what you’ve recreated in place ~ like a rebuilt rebirth. Feeling in full form, complete and whole. Aligned with what you believe is right and good and true. Knowing you operate with absolute integrity, supporting yourself and the people that rely on you the best way you can. Anchored in your renewed reality.

Respect Your Boundaries

Boundaries protect what we consider worthy. The boundaries that Capricorn models are exampled by Saturn, Cap’s ruling planet. Saturn has a trusted and legit elder energy, possessing a maturity that has seriously been earned. Acting as your personal security guard, Saturn aims to filter out what isn’t right for you and keep what’s important safe and secure. Saturn can be tough at times but, as I always explain to my clients, it’s role is to remind us what we really want from life and is only trying to help you get it.

You know the rings that circle Saturn? Imagine they’re keeping your energy close, protecting what you value most.

Our boundaries allow us to take personal responsibility for what we truly care about and want to achieve. But to create good boundaries ~ and have the energy to uphold them ~ we first need to know exactly what we’re protecting. What is worth most to you? Your self-worth? Your time, energy, well-being, ideas, integrity, privacy, safety?

Getting really clear on your priorities will help you make better choices about what you truly need to reach your goals, and will help you make better decisions about what to prioritise to achieve your desired outcome.

Boundaries don’t need to be bullish. They can be personal, familial, made for work, your social life… They’re not created to hurt people. We set them to secure what we value. By setting time limits, being clear about what you can and won’t do, making your availability and non-availability transparently obvious, whatever your boundaries look like ~ and actually following through on them!!! ~ you get to carve out more space and energy for what’s essential for you.

You’ll not only be giving yourself the respect you deserve but the people in your life and the parts of your life that have a right to your attention will benefit too. When we observe our boundaries everything runs more smoothly and happens more easily.

When we don’t respect our limits our bodies speak up for us. Our nervous systems communicate constantly, especially when we’ve crossed a line. We also have different energy capacities at different stages of our lives. Where I’m at right now in post-menopausal land, when time allows I give myself a little grace with a more spacious schedule. I limit my time on Instagram and when I’m done, I’m out. I keep my phone communication to certain times of the day. This gives me space when I’m in intense work mode to have rest breaks, movement breaks. Toilet breaks!!!

Let’s be real. I’m not always great at boundaries. I often do more than I planned for, or bargained for. I let some limits slide. Occasionally I get away with it, but mostly it doesn’t feel right.

You are the authority of what you’re capable of. You know when you’ve gone above and beyond because you pay for it. How healthy are your boundaries? Do you create them with grace and good intention, knowing not everyone will respond to them positively? Are your limits firm or fluid and do you uphold them? However you maintain your boundaries, it’s really not okay to take advantage of yourself, or other people.

To be your greatest leader, acknowledge the example you’re setting for yourself.

Honour Your Process

Capricorn is a slow build. It has goals but not just any goals. We’re talking life goals, marathon achievement goals. Sure, success can come early for Capricorn, but that’s usually because it’s been adulting since it was young. Your Cap might have reached a pinnacle or two but not the mountain it was intending to climb. Maybe it had to repivot because of the stress of too much success and the pressure it put on itself. Or it’s a late bloomer, a long gamer, taking its sweet time to refine its plan and decide when to reveal itself.

For Capricorn, things are forever and honing your craft can take the longest time. Hours and hours of training and practice. Earthbound Cap has excellent form and gives the greatest shape to the visions it receives. It’s wildly creative and cares so much about the end result. On its own, it has incredible patience and a very deliberate energy, as long as it doesn’t get in its own way. This is key.

Allow yourself the grace to unfold and flower in your time.

The Capricorn in you needs to watch out for calling yourself out. We can be so hard on ourselves. This is Saturn speaking, in your ear because it wants you to do your best and Cap wants to be its best for everyone. That’s a lot of responsibility to hold. So fear creeps in. And you know, fear and creativity cannot exist at the same time.

No matter what phase of life you are in, you can model your maturity by not beating yourself up if you’re not exactly in the position you thought you would be.

The peak you’re on right now might feel like a small bump next to someone else’s Mt Everest. But your bump is a precious hill to be proud of. And your trajectory is yours to climb.

Whatever is in your way, when you make an actual plan and stick with it, you can move mountains. Even if it feels like you have a concrete ceiling above you ~ your Capricorn intention can crack it. Don’t forget Capricorn’s symbol. It’s not just the nanny goat but a sea goat too. A mythical creature rising from the water with a fishy tail and a goat body. It contains spirit, creativity, wisdom and vision along with tenacity, dexterity and determination.

Let’s promise this year to make real on the visions we receive. When we decide to do something, we’ll actually commit, seeing our plans through from start to completion. We don’t have to do anything overnight or exhaust ourselves in the process but we do need to get real and make headway. Looking at everybody else on Instagram doing amazing things won’t get us any closer to realising our goals. It only takes precious time away from investing in our own creativity and personal mastery.

And maybe we won’t take ourselves so seriously. You don’t have to prove yourself to anybody, least of all to yourself. When we respect ourselves our timeline doesn’t matter. We can decide how to navigate our own path, taking one consistent step at a time, making a difference and having actual fun in the process.

That is your centred Capricorn consciousness talking.

Love,

Kristin xxx
